During Christmas, there’s many kinds of seasonal foods to represent the festive of Jesus Christ’ birth. Whether it’s Turkey, Pecan Pie, Ham, or even Gingerbread man. This time we’ll be making a Gingerbread man. It is a common seasonal food during Christmas. It usually consists of cinnamon, egg, butter, etc. Therefore, if you want to depict Gingerbread man, you can follow my instructions. Prepare a paper, a pencil, and an eraser. Now we’re ready to draw!
Steps:
Step 1: First of all, we’ll start by drawing the guidelines. The purpose of guidelines is to help you estimate the size of the gingerbread and to guide you in drawing the rest. Therefore, we need to start drawing the head of the Gingerbread man by making a circle.
Step 2: Moving on to the next step. We’ll be drawing the body by making a vertical bullet gun-like shape below the previous step.
Step 3: Next, we’ll continue drawing the legs by making a reverted u-shape and add several straight lines that create a pant-like shape (see picture to better understand).
Step 4: Moving on, we’ll be drawing foot. You can make a trapezium but with a curvy top. You’ll need to make two of them on each leg below.
Step 5: Now we can add the guideline for the arms. Start making the arms by making two curve line on the upper part of the body guideline on each side.
Step 6: We can continue the previous step by the hands for your Gingerbread man. Draw a small and bigger curve that resemble a hand mitt. You’ll need to make for each arm.
Step 7: Then, we can start drawing the face. We’ll be drawing a simple face in the middle of the head guideline by making two small circles then create a cylinder with curve that resemble smiley mouth below it.
Step 8: Next, draw the eyebrows by making two narrow ovals on top of the eyes. Then, we’ll be adding bow tie. We’ll draw the bow tie by making two curvy triangles with a small circle in the middle of it (see picture) in between the head and body guideline.
Step 9: Then, the Gingerbread man need harness belt and buttons to add more details. Start by making two small circle below the bow tie. After that, make two cylinders next to the buttons.
Step 10: Now we can start the detail for the clothing aka frosting on the Gingerbread man. This will separate on the top and bottom for the Gingerbread man. Start by making curvy lines on the wrist, lower body and on legs (see picture to better understand).
Step 11: If there’s a line that intersect each other, this is the time to erase it. To see a Gingerbread man clearly, you’ll need clean lines. Voila! You’ve finished drawing a Gingerbread man!
When drawing Gingerbread man, the most important part is to look at the reference. How’s the actual gingerbread, the detail, each part, pattern, etc. This is important because to look for the features in Ornaments. Therefore, it’s important especially drawing the guideline. You’ll need keen eyes and a lot of practice so you can make your drawing perfect. Good luck!
